Suzuki Violin FUN-damentals: Technique and Styles Workshop for Violin Students

Join us at Orchestra Hall for a week of music making and learning in a nurturing, supportive environment at Orchestra Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, from July 15-19, 2024. The FWYO Suzuki FUN-damentals: Technique and Styles Violin Workshop. provides an opportunity for Violin students from Pre-Twinkle and beyond to review familiar Suzuki repertoire as well as explore the history, harmonies, rhythms, and songs of other cultures. The environment is relaxed, yet engaging and purposeful. It’s a great mid-summer opportunity to come together to play.

Students age 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult
Located near Foster Park with picnic areas, playgrounds, and approximately three miles of trails

Pre-Twinkle through Suzuki Book 2
July 15-18 (Mon-Thurs) 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
July 19 (Friday) 12:00 PM Recital (call time of 11:00 AM)
Suzuki Book 3+
July 15-18 (Mon-Thurs) 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
July 19 (Friday) 12:00 PM Recital (call time of 11:00 AM)
All students will be assigned to a Suzuki Repertoire/Technique Class
In addition they will be assigned to two Enrichment Classes
Enrichment classes include:
Mexican Folk Music for Pre-Twinkle through Book 2: Students enhance their violin skills through carefully paced mariachi and Spanish language children’s songs.
Fiddle: Students will explore and take home new repertoire and skills through exploration of the tunes and rhythms of western and celtic traditional music.
Salsa/Latin Rhythms: Students will explore the different layers of rhythms as they learn the principal polyrhythms found in Salsa music–understanding its origins and traditional instruments
Jazz/Improvisation: Students will explore beginning improvisation while working with melodies, harmonies,and rhythms in a swing and blues style.
