Application & Audition
Information

Thank you for your interest in applying & auditioning for the 2026-2027 concert season of Fort Worth Youth Orchestra!

Application & audition submission deadlines:
• May 11, 2026, for YO, PHIL, SO & JSO
• September 3, 2026 for WE, JWE & Jazz 

In order to be considered for placement in an FWYO ensemble during the 2026-2027 concert season, all applicants must submit the following:

1)  A completed online application (click to apply!)
2)  An audition video recording*
*To verify the identity of the applicant, recording must be video, and applicants should introduce themselves verbally. Hand positions should be visible in the video.

Specific audition materials for each FWYO ensemble can be found below! Please note, auditions may result in the applicant being considered for placement in another ensemble, but only one audition is required. If your audition is not accepted for placement in your first choice ensemble, your submission will flow into consideration for placement in your second & third choice ensembles, as indicated in your application (click here for flowchart).

THE YOUTH ORCHESTRA
YO Rehearses Sundays, 5:30-8:30pm

Auditions open for the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass,
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn,
Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Percussion, Harp

Please note, all YO auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in PHIL, SO, JSO, WE, or JWE (depending on instrument)

PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
PHIL Rehearses Sundays, 2:45-4:45pm

Auditions open for the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass,
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn,
Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Percussion

Please note, all PHIL auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in SO, JSO, WE, or JWE (depending on instrument)

STRING ORCHESTRA
SO Rehearses Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30pm

Auditions open for the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass

Please note, all SO auditions qualify applicants to be considered for placement in JSO

Jr. STRING ORCHESTRA
JSO Rehearses Mondays, 6:00-7:15pm

Auditions open for the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass

WIND ENSEMBLE
WE Rehearses Sundays, 12:30-2:30pm

Jr. WIND ENSEMBLE
** JWE – 8th grade & under **
JWE Rehearses Wednesdays, 6:00-7:15pm

Auditions open for the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Sax,
Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone,
Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion

WE & JWE audition requirements:
1) All scales currently prepared, to the fullest extent of your range
2) 30 seconds each of:
• One technical selection of your choice
• One lyrical selection of your choice
Selections can be from etudes, excerpts, or solo repertoire.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Jazz Rehearses Mondays, 6:00-8:00pm

Auditions open for the following instruments:
Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Trombone,
Piano, Bass, Drums, Guitar
