The Fort Worth Youth Orchestra's flagship Youth Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Germán Gutiérrez was named 2nd in the American Prize National Competition.
Dr. Gutiérrez released the following statement: "I am thrilled that the Youth Orchestra has been named 2nd in the American Prize Youth Orchestra Competition. It is an honor to be recognized for our achievements. We know these students are the best young musicians from our community, but being named one of the best in the country is well-deserved validation of the hard work and dedication that our students and parents have put in. Bravo!"
The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts is the nation's most comprehensive series of contests in the musical and theater arts. The American Prize is nonprofit, unique in scope and structure, and is designed to evaluate, recognize and reward the best performers, composers, conductors, ensembles and directors in the United States, at professional, college/university, community, and school levels, based on submitted recordings.
Founded in 2010 and now celebrating its eleventh year, The American Prize has awarded nearly $100,000 in prizes in all categories since its creation. Thousands of artists representing all fifty states have derived benefit from their participation in the contests of The American Prize.
