Applications are open for the 2023-2024 season! The FWYO program offers two full orchestras (including both string, wind and percussion players), a wind ensemble, and two string orchestras. All positions in all ensembles are open to be filled by audition each season. Prospective members must submit an application and a video audition before 11:59 PM on May 22, 2023.
We are excited that our premier ensemble, The Youth Orchestra, will be going to Spain in June 2024 following the regular season! The Youth Orchestra won second place in The American Prize Youth Orchestra Division in 2021.
The Junior String Orchestra offers an introductory orchestral experience for young string players who will develop their ensemble skills and individual technique while participating in this outstanding group. Players are recommended to have 2 years of playing experience.
The FWYO Wind Ensemble is a premier wind experience for woodwind, brass, and percussion players. To avoid conflicts with marching band commitments, Wind Ensemble rehearsals will begin in November 2023.
In addition to these groups, the Philharmonic Orchestra and String Orchestra offer intermediate ensemble experiences that will further develop the members' ensemble skills through performances of standard and educational orchestral repertoire.
