FWYO EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC

ABOUT THE EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC PROGRAM

Fort Worth Youth Orchestra's (FWYO) Suzuki School offers an early childhood music class for infants through early elementary-aged children. Using a combination of mostly classical and traditional folk music, children will learn to listen, analyze, sing, move, and play - creating a musical foundation that encourages a natural transition to instrumental music and helps them to understand and enjoy classical music.

Key Class Features:

  •   Prepares children to more easily transition to the study of instrumental and/or vocal music.

  •   Incorporates concepts of music theory, rhythm, dynamics, movement, ear-training, music history, instrument familiarization/ identification, creative musical play, song rhyme, and more.

  •   Emphasis on music appreciation by introducing children to the instruments in the symphony orchestra, famous composers, musical periods and exposure to classical and traditional folk music.

  •   Children can begin as young as infancy, listening and participating as best they can, so that music becomes a natural aspect of life, almost like a second language.

  •   Children will utilize and enhance multiple senses while using both fine and gross motor skills.

  •   Children will be introduced to live performance experiences with the opportunity to participate in both solo and group recitals.
